A Simple Habit for Clean Shoes and a Fresher Home
It started with one embarrassing moment
One day I reached a friend’s house straight from office. Delhi dust, metro crowd, little drizzle outside… and my shoes looked like they had survived a construction site. I quietly kept them near the door and prayed nobody notices.
But auntie noticed.
She didn’t say anything rude, just smiled and sprayed something on the shoes and mat. Within seconds the smell changed. No dampness, no outside odor — just fresh. I asked her what that was.
She said, “Beta, ghar saaf rakhna sirf jhadu pocha se nahi hota… shoes se hota hai.”
That line stayed with me and Visit Us : Aap Ka Bazar.
That same week I started keeping a small cleaning corner near my door — and honestly, it made more difference than I expected.
Shoe protection — not luxury, actually necessity
We step outside every day — metro floors, office carpets, parking dust, lift floors, public roads. And then we walk straight inside our home.
I began using Kiwi Protect-All Shoe Protector Spray and Tarrago Nano Protector Spray. Just spray lightly on shoes before wearing them. That’s it.
What I noticed:
Dust doesn’t stick easily
Water drops don’t leave marks
White sneakers stay white longer
Leather shoes don’t crack
Earlier my white sneakers lasted barely 2 months before looking old. Now they actually stay presentable. One small habit saved me from buying new shoes again and again.
Sometimes we think protection is extra work. Actually it reduces work.
The real problem is smell, not dirt
Even clean-looking shoes carry odor. Especially in humid weather or after a long office day.
I started using disinfectant spray and antibacterial spray regularly.
My current favorites:
Dettol Disinfectant Spray
Savlon Surface Disinfectant Spray
Godrej Aer Power Pocket Germ Protection Spray
One quick spray inside the shoe at night and near the shoe rack area — next morning, no smell at all.
It’s not just fragrance. These are proper germ killer spray products. Public places carry bacteria. Shoes bring it home quietly. After I began doing this, even the entrance area feels fresher.
You don’t notice germs.
You notice freshness.
Cleaning spray — the underrated hero
I used to only clean floors. Big mistake.
Door handles, shoe rack shelves, cabinet knobs — all touched after coming from outside. Now I keep a cleaning spray bottle near the entrance.
I rotate between:
Colin Multi-Surface Cleaner
Lysol Disinfectant Surface Spray
Domex Multi-Purpose Spray
Two minutes. Just wipe surfaces lightly. That’s it. The house instantly feels maintained.
Guests don’t see what you cleaned.
They feel it.
Sanitizing spray became my daily ritual
Now my routine is simple:
Come home → keep bag → wash hands → spray shoes → spray mat → wipe handle.
I use sanitizing spray like Lifebuoy Germ Protection Spray and sometimes Dabur Sanitize Surface Spray. Especially during rainy days or crowded travel days.
Earlier evenings felt heavy after coming home. Now entering home actually feels relaxing. No outside smell, no sticky air near the entrance.
Small hygiene habits change mood more than we realize.
Why every home actually needs this
We clean kitchens daily. We clean rooms weekly.
But the entry point of the house — the dirtiest part — we ignore.
Shoes carry:
road dust
moisture
bacteria
odor
Using a shoe protection, disinfectant spray, antibacterial spray, and sanitizing spray together creates a simple system. Not complicated. Just consistent.
I even keep a spare germ killer spray near the door now. Visitors also use it automatically. No awkwardness — just a habit.
Available anytime — online and offline
The nice part is you don’t have to search much. All these products — Dettol, Savlon, Lysol, Colin, Domex, Lifebuoy — are easily available both online and offline. Quick delivery apps, local stores, supermarkets — everywhere stocked.
Sometimes we think cleanliness means deep cleaning once a week.
But actually cleanliness is:
30 seconds at the door every day.
My house didn’t become fancy.
It became comfortable.
And now when I come home after a long day… I don’t carry the outside world inside with me.
Just me. And a fresh-smelling home.
