Ghar Ki Safai, Dil Ki Shaanti — My Real Cleaning Routine

I’ll be honest — I was never that “perfectly organised” person. My room used to look clean only when guests were about to come. But after the last few years, something changed. Now I don’t clean only because the house looks dirty… I clean because the mind feels lighter after it.

Every morning, before even making my second cup of chai, I do one small round of the house. Not a deep clean. Just quick — door handles, switches, table top, remote control. You don’t realise how many hands touch these things in one day.

For this I always keep a surface cleaner spray nearby. I mostly use Lizol Disinfectant Surface Cleaner Spray or Dettol Multi-Use Hygiene Spray. Two quick sprays on a cloth and bas — centre table, dining table, laptop desk, done in 5 minutes. The smell itself makes the house feel fresh. Not strong, not irritating… just that clean feeling.

My favourite line is:
“A clean house doesn’t shout, it quietly relaxes you.”

Especially switches and door handles — these are ignored areas. Now I spray lightly and wipe. That small habit actually changed how fresh the house feels, Now Vist Us - Aap Ka Bazar.

Living Room & Bedroom: Daily Touch Cleaning

Cushions, study tables, wardrobes — dust comes daily. I don’t overthink it. I keep a
home disinfectant handy. Colin Spray works best for glass and mirrors. One wipe and suddenly the room looks brighter. Windows, TV screen edges, dressing mirror — instantly neat.

Sometimes during flu season or when someone has cold at home, I also use virus protection spray like Savlon Surface Disinfectant Spray or Dettol Hygiene Spray. Especially on sofa arms and curtains area. It gives peace of mind. Not visible, but you feel safer.

Honestly, after guests leave, this spray is my first step. Quick round and I can relax again.

Floors — The Real Mood Changer

You know that feeling when you walk barefoot and the floor feels slightly sticky? That’s my biggest irritation.

So evening time is mop time.

I’ve tried many floor cleaners, but some really stand out —
Lizol Floor Cleaner (Citrus or Lavender), Dettol Floor Cleaner, and sometimes Domex Disinfectant Floor Cleaner when I want a stronger clean. These are honestly among the best floor cleaners because you don’t need much quantity. One cap in a bucket and the whole house smells fresh.

After mopping, the house feels cooler. Even the fan air feels better. I don’t know how, but it does.

Clean floors change the mood of the entire house.
You notice it immediately when you sit down at night.

Kitchen Shelves & Daily Use Areas

Not deep cleaning — just regular wiping. Storage shelves, spice racks, containers area. Here I again use a mild
home cleaning products combo — Colin for shine, Lizol for disinfecting, and sometimes Harpic Bathroom Cleaner for sink surroundings and tiles (outside surfaces).

The trick is simple:
Small cleaning daily = No heavy cleaning stress later.

Online or Offline — Just Keep It Ready

These products are easy to find — nearby kirana store, supermarket, or even quick online delivery. I personally keep backup bottles at home. Because the worst feeling is wanting to clean… and realising the cleaner is finished.

My rule now is very simple:

Don’t wait for dirt to show. Clean before it settles.

The house doesn’t need to look like a hotel. It just needs to feel comfortable. And honestly, when the home smells fresh, floors shine softly, and everything feels hygienic… you automatically feel calmer too.

Safai is not a chore anymore.
It’s become a daily reset button.
